Meet Dr. Goheen
Susanna M. Goheen, MD Board Certified in Internal Medicine Board Certified in Pediatric Medicine Dr. Goheen graduated from Agnes Scott College in 1984 with a B.A. in Physics/Astronomy and then received a M.A. in Physics from the University of Illinois in 1986. Goheen spent the next couple of years working part-time while raising her two children. She returned to school full-time in 1997, entering Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas to complete a M.D. degree in 2001. She completed a four year combined adult internal medicine and pediatric residency in 2005 at Baylor Affiliated Residency Programs. Upon completing her residency, her family moved to Northern Virginia and Dr. Goheen joined Nova Medical Group. Double board-certified in adult Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, she enjoys the primary care setting. Her training allows her to take care of pediatric patients from the newborn age through adolescence and into young adulthood and the adult population from young adulthood through the geriatric age. Being double-board certified, she is ideally qualified to care for all adults and patients with special needs, such as the adults with cerebral palsy, Trisomy 21, pediatric congenital heart disease, cystic fibrosis and other childhood chronic illnesses. Dr. Goheen is comfortable taking care of her patients who are admitted to the hospital with more acute medical needs. She especially enjoys being able to care for the entire family while continuing to be the primary care doctor for her patients who transition from childhood to adolescence to adulthood. PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY With a focus on primary and preventative care, Dr. Goheen enjoys being a partner in maintaining the health of her patients from childhood to late adulthood.
